The formula

Everything in 1 stick pack (8 g), in the amounts that print on the label.

The four actives

800mg

Sodium

The mineral you lose most of in sweat, and the one that lets your body hold on to the water you drink.

Sweat is salty because of it, and how much you lose varies a lot from person to person. That is why the stick pack carries 800 mg rather than the 270 mg or so in a 590 ml bottle of a typical sports drink.

300mg

Potassium

Sodium's partner inside the muscle cell. It leaves in sweat too, in smaller amounts.

The second electrolyte in sweat, at much lower concentrations than sodium. 300 mg per stick pack is more than most sports drinks carry and less than a banana.

35mg

Magnesium

Involved in how muscles contract and relax. Most people get less of it than they should.

Lost in sweat in small amounts. 35 mg is a top-up rather than a full supplement dose. Larger amounts of magnesium in a single drink are hard on the stomach, so the stick pack keeps it modest.

90mg

Vitamin C

A full day's reference intake for an adult, in one stick pack.

Water-soluble, so what the body does not use passes through rather than building up. Included at the full reference amount so one stick pack covers the day.

Also in every stick pack

Vitamin B12
A factor in red blood cell formation.
55 mcg
Niacin
A factor in energy metabolism.
30 mg
Vitamin B6
A factor in energy metabolism and tissue formation.
5 mg
Pantothenic acid
